LISTEN: Kenyans say food, debt most pressing concern #Budget2018May 21, 2019
NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 14 – A section of Kenyans are worried about the rising cost of living with food prices remaining a key concern for most Kenyans.
Most of those who spoke to Capital News beat here in Nairobi are expecting Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich to issue concrete policy directions that will ease the cost of food and secure future production.
However, the CS is faced with the task of financing a record Sh3.07 trillion budget amidst missed revenue targets in the current financial year.
One of the areas the CS will be looking at to bridge a Sh500 billion budget deficit is tax changes that will further push the cost of food higher with wheat and maize flour most affected.
