uber mombasa - What Uber Said About Mombasa Driver Accused of Forcing Minor into Oral SexTaxi-hailing giant Uber has condemned one of their drivers who stands accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy in the coastal town of Mombasa.

In a statement to newsrooms Thursday, a spokesperson for the digital taxi company termed the incident as “regrettable and shocking” adding that it “has no place on the Uber app.”

“This would be a clear violation of our community guidelines. We take any incident of this nature very seriously and in cases like this, we immediately remove the driver’s access from the app,” read the statement.

“We are in contact with law enforcement to assist their investigation in any way we can.”

In the case, 33-year-old Fredrick Mungai Njenga is accused of forcing the class 8 pupil into oral sex after locking him inside his taxi.

Mr Njenga was arraigned at the Shanzu Law Courts on Wednesday but he did not take a plea after the court faulted the wording on the charge sheet.

The Court released the suspect on Ksh.50,000 cash bail and ordered the prosecution to rewrite the charge sheet and return to court on July 23 for plea taking.
